Staffers is proud to receive the 2023 Business of the Year Award from the City of Ridgeland Chamber of Commerce. The Ridgeland Chamber’s Business of the Year Award is presented to a company that best exemplifies the principles of sound business practice, dedication to the community and overall excellence. They recognized Staffers for contributing to the community by finding rewarding and fulfilling jobs for over 10,000 Mississippi job seekers over their thirty-seven years of service.
They praised the hard work and dedication of CEO and President Beth Henry. Henry was raised on 160 acres in the Mississippi Delta as one of nine children. She learned from her parents the importance of hard work and setting goals, and from an early age, Henry wanted her life to have meaning and to make a difference in others’ lives.
In 1987, armed with more courage than money, she took her business dream of helping people find jobs to a very skeptical banker. After successfully persuading him of the viability of her plan, Henry blazed a trail by opening Staffers at a time when a five-minute typing test was administered on an IBM Selectric II.
“She has remained true to her promise to find jobs for employees and to find employees for businesses – making a difference one job at a time,” said Chamber President John Dorsa. “Though technology has undoubtedly changed, her company’s values have not. She and her staff remain true to their vision to help clients with important decisions to make and candidates who turn to them at critical times in their careers and lives.
Henry shared the spotlight with Staffers’ Professional Recruiter, Kelly Collum, who has worked alongside her for over 30 years. She also thanked the Ridgeland Chamber for being friendly and professional and promoting local businesses.
“Thank you to the Ridgeland Chamber and Board of Directors for this great honor. I would also like to thank my family for their support over the years and my mother and father – they were the best!” Henry said. “Thanks to all the employees we have worked with and the businesses and government agencies who have supported us. I share this award with my staff, who are here tonight. We are fortunate to love working together and finding jobs and changing futures.”
